Quality education and better schools are the key to the future of Arizona. Education must work to deliver quality and do it in a way that keeps costs in line. Teachers need to have competitive pay and the tools to do their job. As an educator by training, Bill feels he understands the problems that face education in Arizona.

Bill will bring his leadership in helping to solve the educational problems of Arizona. Bill will seek input from educators, parents, local school boards and the community to arrive at solutions that will improve the quality of Arizona’s education system.

Community Colleges and State Universities play a key role in Arizona’s future. Bill understands higher education and has worked to keep community colleges and universities funded. He has also led the charge to bring four year degrees to his District. As Arizona re-designs its higher education system–we need Bill’s experience to help set the future of higher education.

Rural Arizona needs economic development now. As the economy of rural Arizona changes, it needs higher paying jobs, new job training, tourism and development of our natural resources. This can only be accomplished if the State has a plan to encourage rural economic development.

Bill has worked to develop the economy of rural Arizona and preserve our rural way of life. This effort requires planning and hard work. Bill is a strong voice for Rural Arizona and knows how to bring jobs to our communities.

Arizona teachers and employees are important for our children. Attracting and keeping quality teachers has been a problem in Arizona. Competitive pay is what will attract and keep great teachers and employees.

The next budget will require creative thinking and cooperation, but Bill believes the state can work together to keep our teachers and employees.

Cost of health care is on the rise. Arizona must re-think the way it is currently providing health care for the citizens of Arizona. The cost of health care is growing faster than any other part of our economy. Controlling cost is the beginning of affordable health care.

With the current shortage of nurses and other health care professionals, creative ways need to be developed to attract and keep health care professionals. This will require programs to be developed to attract new health care professionals.

Arizona must change the method of reinvestment for health care. Doctors and Hospitals need to have fair compensation for the services they provide to the state’s citizens. Rural Arizona health care must be protected.

With the severe budget cuts being enacted by the Legislature, it is imperative for Rural Arizona to have a champion protecting the District’s hospitals and community health centers. Bill is that person

Arizona’s rural way of life is under attack. We must work to protect what we have and we need to find ways to keep our homes, farms, ranches, businesses, and mines, along with improved management of its forest.

Water is one of Arizona’s greatest assets. RURAL ARIZONA MUST KEEP ITS WATER. Rural Arizona is small in the number of people but very important to the future of Arizona. Rural Arizona provides food, fiber and natural resources to the citizens of Arizona. It also provides a major part of the State’s export goods.

Arizona needs someone who will have a strong voice for rural Arizona. Bill’s rural roots give him the drive and motivation to pursue and preserve our way of life and secure our future. Bill is the voice Rural Arizona needs.
